Hi Kay, I applied tigris.css and inst.css to my design locally and it was horrible (but somewhat different what is there in the tryouts area now). Then I removed the !important declarations (33 instances in inst.css and 16 instances in tigris.css) in and most of the problems went away - the exception being the <h2> positioner styling, the footer, and the action statement font - minor stuff and it should be relatively easy to fix.
