Hi
I shall submit test.openoffice.org for review to the community council
1 March.

Issues I see that need to be resolved include:

* (too) large empty spaces on the homepage

I like the idea of more spacing but feel free to reduce the margins
for #content if you like. Note that you may need to change the styling
for the banner/campaign ad accordingly (if you can make its
positioning independent of the margins for #content [without having to
use absolute positioning], that'd be even better - currently the
action statements are float:left and the banner/campaign ad is
float:right, which doesn't scale the div that encapsulates it
[#content] vertically and this could be a problem)

Also, given that the positioner text is longer now, I'd suggest
reducing the #positioner h1 font size by 2px (also increasing the top
margin or setting vertical-align to center if this works so that it
appears in line with the OpenOffice.org logo text) so it fits on one
line.

If I have time I'll play with this. But don't you dislike having to scroll, too? By having so much whitespace, the site /page just looks unfinished, vacant.

* links: do they work always?
* icons: more?

I'd suggest ditching icons until the appropriate Galaxy icons are
ready. I did the first two based on some other GPL icons but after we
decided to go with Galaxy I stopped on that.

That suggests, too, that the site/homepage is simply not done. Ach. I will see if I can generate some useful icons for the page, but I'm not absolutely sure using Galaxy is the best option, if the result is no result.

BTW, I do see the advantage of deadlines. Otherwise, we will be at this for months! And we have to go live one day. I'd like to make that day 1 March, at least for review, with next week presenting a *new* homepage.....

But only if it actually works. And from what I'm seeing, it seems as if there is still quite a lot to do.

best
louis
