Sorry for not providing this before but can't we make the footer look
more
like the site. Also I am trying to push this new footer design concept
that
mimics the header. Who thinks this is a good idea. I just implemented
on the
cover of "ES" (not any other page) but I still like to think that looks
nice.

I have noticed it (have you tried using negative margins to make it
fill the whole screen?) and I don't think it's a good idea. We have a
footer to satisfy legal requirements (Privacy, Terms of Use...).
During the redesign, we even talked about getting rid of it. The
solution we adopted was to have the footer be very plain so that it
did not draw much attention to itself. By having a flipped version of
the header as the footer, it would be drawing unnecessary attention to
itself.
Maybe we could have a more broad discussion about the footer? How
about turning it into something actually useful? I really like
Mozilla's footer with useful links (mozilla.com). It's far too tall,
but maybe something smaller would be more suitable for us. What do you
think?
Well actually the mirrored footer was also meant to have some thing like
Tabs in the stripe, however instead of being just a bottom menu we wanted
to have the social part of it. (just for OOoES portal)
Which is having our Gtalk chat widget aka chatback. That way it will also
be more social.

The idea still needs more work since is a bit risky, it could be used as
an abuse mechanism and also could annoy some members. Also we need a
special mechanism to only show the ones that are active and disapear the
inactive.
Anyway might be a great idea that just sound like a disaster until it
actually works.
In any case, I have nothing against matching the footer in the Wiki
with the one we have on the website.
awesome. +1.
