You're probably using the OLD Monobook skin. If you set your skin to
the default you'll get the same basic look/feel as Templates, Extensions
and the main OOo website.
I had never changed the skin to anything else but the default, so I
thought I used the default one. But you're right, my preferences showed
me that I used the Monobook skin.
Did this happen to all the user profiles created before the change?
(By the way: On a small monitor - my old laptop has only 600px in height
- the default skin leaves only about half the height for the content...)

ONLY applies to the OOoSkin (the default skin).
