Howdy, Martin,

I live in Sunter, which is adjacent to Ancol, and yes,
the traffic is a nightmare for many. I got a house
about 8 min. away from my school, so I've got it
easier than most. But it isn't much fun to drive
around JKT. It's rainy season now, and although the
toll road(s) are good, and cheap, they can't handle
the traffic when it rains. Still substantial flooding
in many districts. The quality of life, as I have been
told, had deteroriated a lot over the years - smog,
polluted waterways, encroachment by homeless, and
corruption that washes it all as "part of our
culture." But the people are generally quite
friendly, even in this big city; I lived in the jungle
up in Sumatera for 4 years as a school principal,
before JKT, and that was different.

I'll continue to save your e-mails for recall when I
get closer to using Red Hat. I'm not that
sophisticated to re-partititon by hard drive into two
operating systems, etc. -- the dirt and dust make it
hard to maintain one hard drive without tinkering with
it!

Have fun on your travels - it sounds as if you have
skills that take you to interesting places! If you
come to Indonesia, perchance, let me know and I'll do
what I can to help you enjoy your stay.

Cheers and best wishes,
Bruce
