hm, that's a sort of "religious war" here... Ok, but I catch the point. It's better to have whole bearerbox UTF-8 based, then to "map" inside smsc groups, and end up in a situation where bearerbox passes various charset encodings to foobarbox and that layer may be unable to handle it.

I guess you're right, the message content layer (ie. smsbox) should take care 
of it.
