As the previous maintainer, I have been helping out off and on. I contributed the last patch (and submitted it upstream) to help with the recent crash [1]. I have a better version of it but I never had to time to fully test and commit. (There is still some related crash in an edge case) I can keep helping out but I don't want to take the full responsibility of the package.
