Intrinsic btrfs failures? Or that btrfs is more sensitive to hardware failures? And also your recommendation necessarily means choosing a shorter lifespan for more people's hardware. It means leaving other useful features we could take advantage of, off the table. There is a choice to be made, no matter what. How do you assess the value of extending the life of most people's hardware, to the negative UX shift in the disaster recovery pattern? That is difficult to assess objectively, so I don't dispute a subjective component to this evaluation.
