and if developers would be more pragmatic and user-friendly this
wouöd not be discussed a single second and both supported

the time which was used to explain why could have been used for implement the 
alias

why?
"why not?" should be the real question

both are clear words and if both are supported it would not matter
if "erase" is logical for user A or "remove" for user B
