Points 1) and 2) are taken. :-} Let me add some more about PPC. Indeed architectures in PPC camp were aware of inappropriate nature of Power(PC) design. They answered to the question by releasing several and imcompatible TLB architectures, besides "mainstream," MPC860, IBM 403/405, IBM 440, Moto/Freescale e500. The TLB architecture has becoming closer by years to the original MIPS. It's the reason why I recommend "do it inthe MIPS TLB way."
