Hi, i had some experience with openchange in a domain with windows server 2008R2 DC. Unfortunately it wasnt good. Ive set up a second DC whit Samba (Ive tried both DC and RODC). AD Schema provision cant be made if samba havnt master role, so I tried with exchange schema provision. It worked and all the schema was replaced from windows DC to samba DC. I found very difficult (or I can say impossible) to work with existing users, it was impossible for me to add existing AD users to openchange structures, even trying to modify openchange scripts (openchange_newuser doesnt expect users can be in an OU, they MUST be into a CN ,DC= ,DC structure). Again, exchange provision doesnt add to AD schema all the informations openchange wants, for example, it doesnt add any kind of information about exchange server which openchange needs for users provision. So far, for me was impossible to set up a working openchange-samba server into an existing AD structure due to a lots of troubles along the way. D.

I understand that Exchange has a reliance upon Active Directory. I do use Samba 4.0.6 and love it, but I am curious (can't seem to find the answers on the internet) about whether the Active Directory implementation HAS to be Samba, or whether is can be Windows Server, or even a mix of the two. For instance... A domain that only has Windows AD DCs A mixed Samba DC and Windows DC domain? Does Openchange support this? What if the schema master role isn't on the DC the Openchange is installed on, will the Schema update still work? Thanks!
