Hi All

My email is about writing a generic interface to an existing IMAP server like Cyrus. Would it be possible (anything is possible I hear you say) and at what cost (time)?

My thinking here is that if someone has developed a cool opensource groupware product based on an IMAP server, and the only missing piece is outlook integration, then it would make sense to have a Openchange module that talks to the IMAP server.

The specific software I am referring to (but could be any one) is Kolab. They have created a great product (including active-sync) but no Outlook support.

I know about Zentyal and their implementation of Sogo (in case someone is going to suggest I use that instead). I really like Kolab and the work they have put into their user interface and IMAP server integration. This kind of interface would allow greater adoption for many product as the Openchange interface would work in conjunction with the other existing interfaces.

Please let me know if I am over simplifying this and whether this can be done. What piece of the bigger picture am I not seeing?

Thanks in advance
O.
