Dear RIOTers,

The next release, 2017.07, is now on its way!

For this release, we've decided to keep the anticipated merge window for "high
impact"-changes introduced for 2017.04 planning. By high impact, we can think
of low-level/complex changes, features with very large changeset (example: the
CAN stack [1]) or big refactoring that may introduce regression if not
reviewed/tested carefully enough.
But the exact definition of "high impact" is of course up to the maintainers.

Also, as a reminder, I recall that the project currently have 230 PR and 335
issues opened.
If you are mentioned [2], assigned [3] or have review requested [4] to one of
them, please try to put as much as possible efforts to fix/review/ack/merge
them.

So for the upcoming 2017.07 release, the decided schedule is as follows:

- the merge window for "high impact" changes ends at mid-June (only 10 days
left).
- regular feature freeze is end of June.
- planned release date is on July 14th.

Keep on the good work!

Alex
