This is from my work at Spectra Logic; unfortunately there is no publicly
accessible commit log. The illumos issue I created has most of the contents of
that log.
One thing I used this for is in tests, which use it to find the specific L0
blocks in order to tamper them. I've also used it a few times to access
information on otherwise unimportable pools.
