The idea would be to add the donation on top of the amount paid, which then gets processed by the processor -- a snippet of code could track donation activity on each site and then they would send a cheque to the selected charity every month/quarter.
My technical knowledge is too limited to know whether we would need any agreement with the payment gateway or all of the integration could just be a simple snippet of code on the merchant site....either way, I think there'd be a fairly simple way round it, but I don't know, i'm not a programmer.
