Hi Tim, If you grab the votematrix-2010.dat from the PublicWhip site on http://www.publicwhip.org.uk/project/data.php (it's a tab separated file which Excel/LibreOffice/OpenOffice Calc should be able to open), you'll be able to find the data (row 31055 - covers the 5th Feb "Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill" division), you'll then have a list of MPs (which corresponds with the votematrix-2010.txt file ) allowing you to see how they voted.
If it is easier, feel free to drop me an email (via [email protected]) letting me know what format of data would be best (a list of MPs names in the format "firstname, lastname, party, title" who voted for the bill and a similar list of who voted against : both in CSV files) etc, and I'll see what I can pull out for you. Unfortunately, we don't currently hold "personal data" of MPs (dates of birth etc), but if the Guardian does hold that information you may able to relate it with http://ukparse.kforge.net/svn/parlparse/members/guardian-links.xml and we can supply the "person id" number as well. Hope it helps, Richard http://www.publicwhip.org.uk http://twitter.com/publicwhip http://facebook.com/publicwhip On 19 February 2013 16:46, Tim Regan <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Folks, > > I'm new to all this. > > I want to plot a simple chart showing the age of MPs (say in five year > buckets) and how they voted in the "Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill - 5 > Feb > 2013" in the UK Parliament.
