Kees, Michiel, Pierre, Wouter, Thanks for all the replies, i will include a couple of parts of the replies into the formal report.
>Some documentation is indeed outdated but other is rather good and up to >date. For example the MMBase HOWTO is ok, and I find the taglib >documentation also not bad. I was indeed a little rough at this point, but the amount of documentation is still to little. There is for example no global documentation on the source code, a class model or object model would be a great help for people who plan to extend mmbase. Also a manual for the GUI would be nice. A seperate group of people handling the documentation will most of the time result in more, better and up to date documentation (but needs more people/time). > > <http://enhydra.enhydra.org/> hadden gedaan, daar bestaat het ontwerp uit > > custom HTML tags. > >In fact there are two alternatives to SCAN: JSP and taglib (or a >combination). You don't need to know JSP to make simple (and also a whole >lot more complex) pages, because the taglib will be sufficient. A group of designers will know html and can write html tags, but when i give them the taglib documentation they will be baffled by the technical terms. When i give them a couple of html tags, for example <news></news> they will smile happy :-) >The reaction of Twan is of someone that didn't spend a lot of time to get >really aqainted with the MMBase on the whole. Me neither of that matter, but >that makes the remarks somewhat uncredited IMO. Then again some of the >points he's made a point. Maybe it's a idea to write a powerpoint presentation or intro docs which present the advantages and disadvantages of mmbase, that way people like me will have a idea what to expect from the product. -twan
