It is a function on typedef: 'defaultsearchage()' (also available in 1.6). No idea who made it, but it could be me, yes. Furthermore, there is also a way to filter on age in 1.7, using the <mm:ageconstraint tag (taking the tedious manipulation with 'daymarks' out of your hands; needed since daymarks seems to be a 'core' builder).
