Onderwerp: RE: MMBase Management Committee Elections - The Candidates

Hi,

To support my candidacy for becoming a commiter I would like to share my
view on the future of MMBase with you.

Once a commiter I will activily pursue a C# fork of MMBase. Lots of
customers are complaining about this technology dependency of MMBase and
the fact that it is obligatory to install a Java Runtime Machine before
they can start working.
Furthermore, the fact that MMBase is now completely based on Java
technology is a big obstacle for my ultimate goal: a tight integration
of MMBase within Windows XP. Once MMBase runs within the .NET-framwork
we can leverage all the neat functionality that XP offers and integrate
with the ClipBoard, Outlook and MSN Messenger. Authentication and user
management can be integrated with Microsoft passport and Active
Directoy. Furthermore we will be able to leverage ActiveX functionality
within the EditWizards, a long sought after functionality by many MMBase
users.

Of course we should be cautious of any legal anti-trust cases that could
be made against us once XP and MMBase are bundled together, but we
should be able to sort this out.

What do you guys think about it ?

Peter Reitsma
