The change was rolled back because it was not fixing a known bug, but instead altering the functionality of the code. As the maintainer of this code, I don't approve of this and had to rollback the change.
Specifically, the query framework is designed to be light-weight, and completely ignorant of business-logic like how to derive nodenumbers from and alias or a Node instance. Necessary conversions have to be carried out by the calling code, not by the query framework.
