Hi Matthijs! I've sent this email to Iurgi (who I know since the early years of FON, when I was working there as web developer) and he told me to write to you... :-)
I've got an USB 3G dongle and I'd like to use it in my Fonera 2.0N. The dongle is the one Movistar distributes (a Novatel MC 990D<http://www.movistar.es/particulares/movil/tablets-portatiles/ficha/novatel-mc-990d> ) As I read at Fonosfera <http://blog.fonosfera.org/2-3-7-0-rc2/>, the RC2 of v2.3.7.0 (changelog<http://download.fonosfera.org/RC/2.3.7.0_rc2/Changelog.txt>) could make it works thanks to usb-modeswitch<http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/#hardware> . They have this device in their list of supported devices<http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/device_reference.txt> (although your usb-modeswitch version is 1.1.4 and they are in the v1.2.5 Did I "followed the thread" properly? :-) I meant, will the Novatel MC990D works with the fonera 2.0N with v2.3.7.0 firmware? If affirmative: Do I need a powered hub to use de dongle? (a red light blinks at the dongle when I plug it to the fonera 2.0n) Do I have to install de RC2 or the stable release "Paco the alpaca"? Are every setting of the fonera 2.0n erased installing a new firmware? (public/private SSID, WiFi password, ports config., etc) thank you in advance! Luis Hernández www.selfbite.com
