hey jay

i guess i know what you're thinking of: making the power button something which
messes up semantics.

yet, this can be quite easily solved: think of the power button as
"negative action" instead of "power"

so, the semantics would be along the lines of

* phone: switch phone off, logout, suspend, whatever.
* item: delete, cut, "step back"
* process: kill, stop, minimize
* sound: deactive speaker, deactivate mic, lower volume
* phone functions: hang up, suspend, redirect

then your tap system would apply: complex tap -> "more serious action" (kill
rather than minimize or stop) - easier tap -> "soft action"

eg long hold, two-tap, one-tap

i havent given that system too much thought though and as you know im currently
not even into openmoko dev. just my 2c.
