It sounds to me as though he had 4.1.1-3 and 4.1.1-4, but has since
removed 4.1.1-3, so has only 4.1.1-4. This looks as though it is the
intended state.
Kenneth, run:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
/sbin/telinit 6
then wait for a reboot. See how that goes.
