I repent in sackcloth and ashes ... :-<

DNS works perfectly! I stumbled over a misconfigured default route.
When testing the connection I have pinged an IP number and it works.
Should I have tried my assigned local IP? Obviously I did - embarrassing!
Reading the postings again with focus on routing issues I found Jeb Campbell's
report, which solves my problem. 
But where to fix it in the templates?
