I picked up a problem with the templates on doing a 4.01 update.
It seems the update created rpmsave files in some of the template
directories.
( I only checked /diald.conf and /sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0 )
When the templates are expanded, the new script is written first and then
the contents of the rpmsave file are appended to the end of the this conf
file.
As a result, only the last (and oldest) lines are used when the conf file is
interpreted.
I deleted the rpmsave files and expanded the templates to create fresh conf
files and all was well again.
Perhaps this is an isolated problem due to some other changes I might have
made along the way. This is a fairly old V4 installation which I have
patched several times with individual rpm updates such as the base
revisions.
