  Sure indeed. Actually I too believe this "dispersation" makes working 
harder. But, I have written twice to them without luck (for the second 
release, the first one went right away).

  Yes, actually in standard ftp area is quite hard to find a package if you 
dont know the developer.

  As you do, a central "area" is much better than a dispersed bunch of sites. 
At the same time, the current system is not easy enough. Maybem known 
contributers should have some kind of "control" for their area. At the same 
time, a common desciptive index is a must.

  At the same time, we could impose some kind of minimum standards. "Great, 
you have spent some time developing this, but we cant host it unless you make 
this little html file describing the package, howto use it, etc etc".
