Yes, it does seem to do so. There are several reasons that I think make Frost work better than FMB without re-announcements: One: Possibly larger user base of Frost means the data is more popular, and gets cached on more nodes. Two: Frost has an automatic "get data from previous days" function. Three: Frost uses KSKs for public channels. FMB has only one public channel, and the rest are private SSK-based channels. I believe that KSKs propagate better than SSKs, but have no basis for that belief other than experience. FMB (by default) inserts with 20 HTL. One of FMBs problems is the lack of a "download previous days" option. The only way to do it currently is either to modify the FMB source to subtract a day (or more) from the current time, or to fiddle with the system clock. Fiddling the clock can easily screw up the node for quite a while. I've tried it a few times, trying to reset the clock to the correct time as soon as FMB has finished loading. If you fiddle the clock, sometimes the node routing backs off totally for about 4500 seconds, which doesn't help FMB at all. I'm aware that fred wasn't designed to handle nonlinear clocks :-) From what I can tell, it looks as if FMB has some problems with understanding what "Route Not Found", and "Data Not Found" really mean. Too many "Route Not Found"s can make FMB give up completely. In truth, I'm not totally clear on the differences between DNF and RNF in this week's freenet. _______________________________________________ devl mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hawk.freenetproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/devl
