Good point, the RIAA doesn't seem to have the power to tell the univeristy to block the ports those apps use, let a lone try hunting people down.

Again I'm not lawyer, but I remember people's websites/connections getting shut down by the universities, because of threats to sue from RIAA. Their arguement seems to match yours, except for the point about not knowing who's downloading. But I don't know that (at least not realtime) about a web site I'm serving. Perhaps we can find some precident about intranets. I'd like to think you are right. In the worst case you'll run the thing and they'll make you stop it. Then you can complain about not being able to stop it :-) "It's them dang students." > A simple web site that queries all of the nodes on > the LAN Freenet and provides a search engine does > sound like the best idea. Because of the way the keys work. This should be hard. What I was suggesting is that the university makes a students listing page. It links to Tim the CS undergrad. That links to Satin's Page of Evil, which links to music, movies, porn, ..... This leaves you the univesity free of liablity. If someone asks Tim where he heard of Satin's Page, he just says "Gee, I forgot; I saw a link somewhere I guess." So um, is anyone going to answer my other post about the routing? __________________________________________________________________ Gesendet von Yahoo!
