I know the prevailing wisdom is that people who aren't on windows
don't need pretty installers, but I'd like to see simpler install
mechanisms like the windows bunny icon app for Mac OS X and
X Windows.

(At one point in thepast, I started hacking something up using QT, until
about 2.3 minutes later realising that maintaining multiples of this thing,
each working in a different and uniquly annoying way, was a really really
bad idea, and would only lead to more problems. So, I'm going to suggest
what's been suggested before, but I don't have the time to do the work
requied for the next few weeks, so i'm hoping someone else does, which is
that such a configuation tool should be in AWT or similar, with just a little
native glue to give the bunny icon, for which there are pre-canned libraries
for all of the above three operating environments).

Only tenuously related: Didn't there used to be a macos installer at one
point? Does anyone know where the source to this ended up?
