If you have another service you'd like to use instead, that's up to you. But I could probably save you money relative to most alternatives, as I can do design or development or both.
Here's how my process would work: I would want a portion of the payment as an advance up front (I usually figure about 20%, so in this case about $240), and then work for a few weeks to come up with a design proposal. You could all take a look at that, and either accept it, ask for revisions, or if you really don't like it, reject it entirely. So, if you decide to go with something else, you're only out the 20% advance. Then assuming that you've accepted the design and I've made any necessary revisions, I get to work on developing the implementation.
