Regarding the use of text config files instead of the more standard 
Windows Registry entries, Zem writes:

Earlier, I mentioned that it's easier to program, debug, test, and 
(especially) support a program that is as similar as possible on all 
platforms.  I'm interested in your opinion of that consideration.
