Keep in mind that most clients encode it to 7 or 6 bits down from 8. That adds substantial overhead. A small 100kb file could bloat to 135kb, including MIME overhead. For comparitive purposes, most e-mails are under 5kb, which means your single attachment has placed a load equivalent to 27 e-mails onto the remote client. This is more than what the freenet list generates in about 1.5 days, on average. The other problem is that due to how a mailing list operates, that same file will be replicated approximately 200 times to the other subscribers (for this list). Your 100kb file has now consumed ~250KB of bandwidth, probably more due to overhead. *this* is why files should *never* be sent to mailing lists which are on the internet. ~ Signal 11 _______________________________________________ Freenet-dev mailing list Freenet-dev at lists.sourceforge.net http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/freenet-dev
