Well, I never actually take the server down but unfortunately my adsl connection is on the edge of the acceptable distance from the main c.o., so it tends to lose and reastablish the connection at least daily. It has never seemed to bother the actual node connections very much. This is a dynamic address situation but the addresses don't change wildly from one to another.
So if changing ip address or connection is the same as taking the server down then that might be the problem.
