Well, you are now. In Freenet, metadata - literally - "data about data" - is used to store useful information about data which is not contained within the data itself, such as a MIME type. As has been pointed out, Freenet metadata is purely client-size, nodes are not aware of it as it is transferred as part of the data payload. Only clients recognise it and treat it speacially. Using metadata for searching isn't really relevant to Freenet, at least not until we implement some form of fuzzy searching which is still pie in the sky stuff.
