Hi everyone I really like the idea of a new web site. I can't say I am huge fan of the design of the current web site.
Using the same colour scheme as the Freenet gateway uses I think would be OK but I do have to agree that the aqua look would be a bit tacky for use on the website, although looks nice for the gateway. I think the design is really important as first impressions count. One of my favourite web sites design wise is www.gnutella.com. Although the site is a little bare and simple for my liking I do like the way colour is used. It would be nice to have something as inviting for Freenet. One thing I think is an absolute must is a message board. It would be really nice to have a message board along the lines of UltimateBB to share views with other users and developers. Some really interesting stuff is said in this mailing list but I feel that people find mailing lists offputting. It would also be a useful way of helping new users out. I would like to put myself forward for helping out with the design of the web site and also writing user documentation. I think a more well written general guide would also benifit users instead of the long FAQs we have at the moment. Lastly my thoughts on a replacement for Freenet Forever. I do not support the index. I can't stand the tacky name. I can't stand the yellow and black colour scheme and most of all I can't stand the non-standard size of the active links used. It's 95 x 32 for god sake! I like TFE because it is fairly professional looking. I have heard that 'The Slander Man' is working on a automated version of TFE. Might be worth keeping an eye out for that. Binary42dot gets my vote for front page. Anyway, I think I said enough. Keep up the good work.
