Not true.

If we allowed ordinary registered users to edit the front page, then 
there would be nothing to stop anyone who knows the registration 
password (as will anyone that pays attention to this mailing list) from 
changing the frontpage to "Fr33n3t Sux" seconds after we get linked from 
Slashdot.  I don't think we want that.  If you have a valid reason to 
edit the front page, ask me to give you permission.
