Hi SoC folks! Could you please make sure that code you wrote during the Google SoC is marked as GPL 2+? I don't know whether putting COPYING in the root directory is sufficient; Linus argues that just including COPYING puts the whole work under GPL2-only. IMHO he's obstructive, but the recommended way to deal with these things is to put in per-file headers... Unless you have a better suggestion, put in per-file headers, claim the copyright yourself (unless you particularly want to assign it to FPI, or have already done so or are required to do so by Google), and use the standard "GPL 2 or later" wording.
If I have anything to say about it then Freenet will be GPL3 compatible, and perhaps actually GPL3. One of its benefits is that it is transparently compatible with ASL2, which saves a major headache when incorporating such things as the Commons Compress library.
