We definitely shouldn't merge this before the release, its benefit is somewhat abstract so far as I can see (is there even a point to GCJ any more now that Sun's Java is being GPL'd)?
Of course, it would be preferable from an aesthetic perspective to avoid using sun.* classes, but such aesthetic benefits do not justify a significant change just before a release. Ian.
