It all depends on how you implement it. You could provide some fallbacks: either an image fallback or some content char fallback: use a generic star char, like https://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2605/index.htm . The fallback can be put on (.your-rating-class img) selector, since Silk generates images.
