If you're using the latest dhclient, you don't need to touch
/etc/dhclient.conf, so I suspect that in fact you're running something
old and don't know it. The symbolic link to /etc/dhclient-script is
another clue - you shouldn't need to do that.
It turns out that there are a couple of problems with the DHCP client
with respect to some cable modem services that may apply to you. I'm
going to be releasing a new snapshot soon with fixes.
