The new university could provide a great service to Africa and a great learning opportunity for its students if they would set up a portal similar to www.digialdivide.net that encourages people from different parts of African and the rest of the world to meet, network, share information, etc.
In such a portal students could be collecting information and creating a links library similar to the one we show at http://msg.uc.iupui.edu/TMC/html/index.php. They could also be conducting polls, hosting discussions, econference and other collaboration forums, in ways that encourage people to work together to solve problems that governments have not been able to solve. Such a use of technology could provide a learning experience that could have long-term benefit to everone involved.
