Webcast on November October 19 1:00-2:00 OR 3:00-4:00 ET Focuses on
Unique Funding Opportunity for Informal/Out-of-School Learning Programs
offered by the National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation's ITEST (Information Technology
Experiences for Students and Teachers) program is seeking applicants for
its 4th cohort. Preliminary proposals (required) are due on 11/02/05.
Full proposals are due 2/24/06.

Join NSF and the ITEST Learning Resource Center at EDC for a one-hour
webcast on October 19 to learn more about this opportunity to support
innovate out-of-school learning. Community-based organizations and
partnerships are encouraged to take advantage of this time to hear about
the application process. Current ITEST program grantees and NSF program
officers will be on the call.

ITEST is designed to increase the opportunities for students and
teachers to learn about, experience, and use information technologies
within the context of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
(STEM), including Information Technology (IT) courses. It is in direct
response to the concern about shortages of information technology
workers in the United States. Supported projects are intended to provide
opportunities for both school-age children and for teachers to build the
skills and knowledge needed to advance their study, and to function and
contribute in a technologically rich society.
ITEST has two components: (a) youth-based projects with strong emphases
on career and educational paths; and (b) comprehensive projects for
students and teachers. All organizations with an educational mission are
eligible. Proposals targeting minorities, persons with disabilities and
women are especially encouraged.

Since 2003, NSF has funded 50 3-year ITEST (1/2 youth-based and 1/2
comprehensive) projects and expects to grant a total of $20,000,000
(pending availability of funds) to support 10-12 youth-based projects
and 10-12 comprehensive projects in this funding cycle.

To attend, RSVP to Haejung Chung ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), indicating your
preferred time (1:00 or 3:00). You will receive login instructions via
email.
