hi everyone -

one of the neat things about using the free sitemeter.com web service
is that you can check the general identity of the people visiting your
web site.

for example, on my Digital Divide Network profile web page, i've been
getting a bunch of visits from people who work at google.
(see http://www.writersforliteracy.org/sitemetervisitor.tiff)

the way to view this info on your sitemeter account is to click on
the sitemeter icon on your web page, then click on Recent Visitors/By
Referral on the left side of the sitemeter page.

sitemeter will show you a list of the referring web sites that
brought visitors to your web page. click on the number to the left of
the referring web site to see further info about the web surfer who
came to your site.

the way to add a sitemeter counter to your web page is to register for a
free account at sitemeter.com and then copy-and-paste the html they give
you to put at the bottom (or right side) of your web page.
