Hi all!
Being the largest European Open Source Conference, FOSDEM takes
place in Brussels and attracts with more than 400 lectures
every year over 5000 hackers - many core contributors of the
worlds leading open source projects. FOSDEM 2015 will take
place on Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February 2015.
I had a talk about LDC in the LLVM dev room this year
(https://archive.fosdem.org/2014/schedule/event/ldccompiler/)
which was much fun.
The call for participation is now announced!
I think we should propose a D dev room for FOSDEM'15. Besides
being a nice place to meet some D people, this would also give
us a lot of attention in the open source world. There is always
press about this event.
What needs to be done? We have to submit a proposal for a dev
room until September 15. If the proposal is accepted then we
should have a call for papers, keynotes, lightning talks etc.
From these proposals the schedule has to be created. The
schedule should be published around January, I guess.
From my understanding, the main team organizes the rooms,
beamers, video recording etc.
In order to distribute the work a small team (3 persons?) will
be needed.
What do you think? Anybody willing to help me to create the
proposal and the schedule and moderate the event?
If the dev room proposal will be accepted I really like to see
Walter and Andrei as keynote speakers!!!
Regards,
Kai
Sounds very interesting, it is a good opportunity to effectively
do small european DConf without bothering about many of
organizational details. I will forward this to colleagues and
report shortly.
