how about that idea of using with(scopeAllocator(...)) { /* use 
theAllocator */ } ?

I.e. encapsulating

auto oldAllocator = theAllocator;
scope(exit) theAllocator = oldAllocator;
theAllocator = allocatorObject(...);

into a nice RAII type and then using it with WithStatement.
