It depends upon which specific Rascal model as there are several. Some will provide a USB connection to the computer for PTT and an audio interface. They do not appear to have the CI-V control so you would need additional hardware and another COM port for that if you wish to have more advanced computer control.
Personally, I would prefer to control the PTT via the CI-V rather than a separate control, but I have heard that some ICOM rigs (e.g., 706) may not permit PTT via the CI-V as does 756 Pro series ICOMs. Perhaps some others more knowledgeable can comment. 73, Rick, KV9U Andrew O'Brien wrote: >So, is the Rascal all that one would need if the radio was a Icom and >the Rascal had supplied cables?
