I would not recommend tossing away fb.modes. DirectFB programs have the ability to switch modes in exclusive mode. For example ClanBomber2 tries to set 800x600, in that case it doesnt matter where in fb.modes the 800x600 mode is listed, but is must be there for fullscreen.
