Sven,

Thanks again. First, I got gimp up and running with the
installation of DirectFB that I had installed (without multi-app
support). It installed and ran beautifully once I downloaded and
installed all the requirements.

Then I decided to recompile DirectFB to enable multi-app support.
Unfortunately, once I did this, none of the directfb apps I have installed
(gimp and the various examples) would run any more. They all die with the
same error:

(*) Multi Application Core. (with MMX support) (2002-11-11 18:45)
(*) DirectFB/misc/memcpy: using MMXEXT optimized memcpy()
opening shared memory file: No such file or directory
(#) DirectFBError [gdk_windowing_init_check: DirectFBCreate]: General initialization
failure!

(gimp-1.3:31272): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: DirectFB

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

Thanks :-)
Adam
