I hadn't originally rebuilt gtk+ after rebuilding DirectFB to be multi-app aware, but I decided to last night. And, thankfully, that fixed the problem, though I have no idea why :-) Now, I only remaining issue on my home machine is the lack of fonts showing up with gtk+ apps.
