Included in the DirectFB package is a patch for the 2.4.19. Several hunks fail when applied on 2.4.20, but those can easily be edited and corrected by hand (just a matter of adding the FB_SAVAGE entry in Makefile.in and Config.in, see the patch).
I'd gladly post an updated patch but i guess first i should get savagefb working on my laptop first to test its ok !! i own an IBM T23 which somehow use a slightly different savage IX chip according to dok, and can't get it to initialize, see my previous posts and dok's answers.
Btw, i hadn't enough time to extensivly test it, but adding the chip ID in the savagefb.h file sadly doesn't seem to make much difference..
Could this be due to the memory ? i mean maybe mmios values differ between chips with dedicated video memory and chips using shared memory ??? and is there any code in the savagefb source that i could activate (or add) to have more debug info on why it can't initialize ?? dmesg is absolutely empty...
Cheers, Mathias

hi,
I'm using Debian woody with a standard Linus 2.4.20 kernel. Please could someone tell me how to patch the kernel with the Savage GFX driver.
For some reason the configure output shows all the graphics drivers enabled bar the Savage. Will the makefile add the code to my kernel tree or do I have to do this manually?
I'm using DirectFB 0.9.16.
Thanks,
Ben Lamb.
